I am a self-made multimillionaire. Four years ago, I was $50,000 in debt. Now I make tens of thousands of dollars every single day. And I didn't get here by accident or by luck. It was strategic. I want to share the wisdom that got me here for anyone who is where I was a few years ago: in debt, struggling, or simply feeling that something bigger is out there for you. If you feel you're meant for more, you are. I hope this finds the right people.
If we haven't met yet, hi. I'm your manifestation BFF, and I talk about everything to do with manifestation, spirituality, the law of attraction, tarot, and astrology. I'm a full-on woo woo girl, and these are the mindset shifts that changed my entire life.
Success Is Not Taught in School
I don't come from an educated or privileged background. I have my high school diploma, and I started a few different colleges and kept dropping out because the academic system just wasn't for me. I did fine academically, but I found it useless for real-world application, because you don't need a business degree to become successful. Success isn't taught in school. Creativity isn't taught in school. School teaches you to think linearly, follow instructions, and become the best possible employee, one reliable cog in the assembly line. That never aligned with the vision I had for myself.
So understand this: success has nothing to do with who your parents are, what opportunities were handed to you, your looks, your ethnicity, or even your intelligence. It comes down to one thing, and it's the first and most important shift I want you to make.
Shift One: Your Success Depends on Your Ability to Withstand Rejection
All success really requires is your ability to withstand rejection and failure. If you can outlast other people at being rejected, embarrassed, and knocked down, you will become the most successful person you know. My tolerance for rejection is the single biggest reason I'm here today.
This wasn't my first business. I've had multiple businesses and careers before this one, some that failed and some that worked but were never going to take me where I wanted to go. I always knew I wanted to be a millionaire. What held me back for years was being attached to a very specific idea of how it would happen.
Shift Two: Let Go of the "How"
I was an actress for 15 years, starting as a child actor around age 8. I always assumed I'd make my millions in Hollywood. I was even a series regular on Degrassi, which streamed on Netflix for four seasons. I was on the show every episode, it was a huge deal, and I was only 16. I remember thinking I was about to be rich. The show was a success, but I wasn't. I made somewhere around $40,000 to $50,000 for two seasons combined. That's about $50,000 for half a year of work. Today, I make $50,000 in a day.
Here's the lesson. You might be fixated on becoming successful in one very specific way. But if your real goal is wealth and success, you have to open your heart to other avenues you can't yet see or predict. The moment I understood that success could arrive in ways I couldn't even imagine, I became far more receptive to opportunities I would have dismissed before. When you let go of the how and leave it up to the universe, fate, or chance, you get there so much faster, because you finally start noticing the doors that were open all along.
With one of my earlier businesses, I stopped obsessing over exactly how I'd make millions and simply committed to the certainty that I would. My rule was: I am going to be successful, and I don't care how I get there, as long as I'm not compromising my morals or hurting anyone. That certainty made me detached from small outcomes. A business failed? On to the next. An idea wasn't good enough? Time for a better one. A post flopped? I had 30 more ready in my drafts.
Shift Three: Celebrate Your Failures
The faster you can fail and recover, the faster you'll succeed. It's a numbers game. Think about lifting weights: you have to push your muscles to failure to tear and rebuild them stronger. Life works the same way. You have to reach failure in order to grow.
So stop treating failure like the end of the world and start celebrating it. Every time you fail, clap for yourself and say, "I am one failure closer to success. The more I fail, the faster I'll succeed." That's my mantra now. Every failure just tells me what not to waste time on, so I can move toward something better even faster.
Shift Four: Stop Feeling Guilty for Wanting Success
You have to stop feeling guilty or icky about wanting to be wealthy and successful. Society trains us to equate being humble with being good, and to treat wanting more as selfish. But here's the truth: life itself is self-interested. The desire to survive and thrive is what makes us human, and you can't erase it. And wanting more for yourself does not mean anyone else has to have less.
This is where the law of abundance comes in. The universe is abundant. This is not a zero-sum game. There is more than enough to go around, and abundance is your birthright. You are meant to be wealthy and successful, and you must let yourself admit that out loud without guilt. If you keep judging yourself for the size of your dreams or the amount of money you desire, you'll never get there. That guilt is often a defense mechanism, because it's easier for people to tell you to want less than to confront why they aren't chasing more themselves.
Shift Five: Keep Your Dreams to Yourself
When you go out and strive for success, don't expect the people around you to cheer you on. Anyone who speaks badly about your dreams is projecting their own limitations onto you. I prefer to keep my dreams and plans to myself, because I don't need anyone's doubt or fear rubbing off on me.
If you share your plans, you're going to get opinions, and opinions are cheaper than a penny. They're free, endless, and often the opposite of what you need to hear. People's fears, doubts, and limitations will get projected onto you. If you're not yet strong enough to ignore all of that, the simplest solution is to not tell them your plans in the first place. Keep it to yourself, and let your results do the talking.
How You Can Apply These Shifts
You don't need a degree, a wealthy family, or a lucky break to change your financial life. You need to build a tolerance for rejection, release your grip on exactly how success should look, celebrate every failure as progress, give yourself full permission to want abundance, and protect your dreams from other people's doubt. I went from $50,000 in debt to a self-made millionaire by living these shifts every single day, and if I could do it, so can you. You are meant for something bigger, and the fact that you feel it is your proof.
